Marijuana smoking now more common than cigarettes among U.S. adults
Approximately 17% of U.S. adults report smoking marijuana, matching the record high set in 2023. This rate is more than double the 7% reported in 2013. Marijuana smoking is now more common than cigarette smoking among adults in the United States.
About 17% of adults reported smoking marijuana, matching the previous high recorded in 2023. That is more than twice the 7% recorded in 2013, when Gallup first measured marijuana smoking.
