Nolo moves slowly west as a Category 1 hurricane
Hurricane Nolo remains a Category 2 storm south of Hawaiʻi Island with 105 mph winds. The system is expected to strengthen into a Category 3 hurricane by early Sunday.
(Update: 11 a.m. HST Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026) Nolo is moving slowly westward with gusty winds, heavy rain and large waves continuing over portions of the Hawaiian Islands. As of 11 a.m., the Hurricane Watch for Hawaiʻi County was discontinued. However, a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Hawaiʻi County and a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Maui County.
