Letter: Hawaii can harness AI to rebuild eroded beaches
A reader suggests that Hawaii should utilize artificial intelligence and satellite technology to monitor and address beach erosion, citing successful projects elsewhere.
The recent Nation and World report, “AI and satellites help rebuild sandy beaches in the Maldives,” was a great read (Star-Advertiser, Sept. 20). The successful project doubled the beach size and attracted coral, fish and other marine wildlife. The research team can now predict future erosion and develop a plan to address it within a day. Erosion patterns are monitored in real time.
