Michigan State Police removes tens of thousands from sex offender registry after court order

The Michigan State Police has begun removing tens of thousands of individuals from the state’s sex offender registry following a Michigan Supreme Court ruling. The court determined that 2021 legislative amendments to the Sex Offender Registration Act cannot be retroactively applied to those who committed offenses prior to July 1, 2011.
