Letter: Canceled paddling race is least of isles’ worries
The Na Wahine O Ke Kai paddling race was canceled due to Tropical Storm Nolo. This marks the seventh cancellation of the event since 1979, with six of those occurring in the last decade.
The Na Wahine O Ke Kai race from Molokai to Oahu was canceled because of Tropical Storm Nolo (“Wahine race canceled,” Star-Advertiser, Sept. 23). Since the first crossing in 1979, the race has been canceled seven times due to hurricanes, tropical storms, global pandemics or deadly wildfires. Six of those seven cancellations were in the past decade.
