Wilmington celebrates tenacity, legacy during Black Restaurant Week
“Everyone has a Walt’s story,” as Larry Fletcher, owner of Walt’s Flavor Crisp Chicken on Lincoln St., likes to put it. For example, Wilmington City Councilor Alex Hackett has been a patron since childhood. Every day he attended the H. Fletcher Brown Boys & Girls Club, a counselor would give him a golden dollar for playing a chess match before running off to play sports. Hackett would spend that allowance at Walt’s.
