Oakland County Sheriff’s officials investigate possible misuse of Flock data

Oakland County officials are investigating the potential misuse of data from Flock license-plate reading cameras. The county is currently considering a two-year, $2.5 million contract extension for the program.
The Oakland County Board of Commissioners voted 13-4 on April 8, 2026, to approve a nine-month pilot program, called “Project Prove It,” for seven Flock Safety license-plate reading cameras, with an option to extend the agreement. Commissioners will consider a extending the agreement to a two-year, $2.5 million contract in December.
