12,370 on Maui without power due to strong winds from Hurricane Nolo; HECO monitoring wildfire risk
Strong winds from Hurricane Nolo have caused power outages for over 16,000 customers across Maui and Oʻahu. Hawaiian Electric crews are preparing to begin restoration efforts once conditions allow.
About 12,370 customers in West Maui and Upcountry are without power due to strong winds from Hurricane Nolo as the storm continues its westward track south of the state. As of 6 a.m., an additional 3,900 customers are without power on the windward side of Oʻahu due to storm effects. These outages were not a PSPS, and Hawaiian Electric crews are standing by to begin inspections at first light as the first step in the restoration process.
