Automated Ticketing For Bike, Bus Lane Blockers Should Be Expanded Citywide, Alders Say

More than 20 alderpeople are calling for the citywide expansion and permanent implementation of the Smart Streets pilot program this fall. The initiative utilizes automated cameras mounted on city vehicles and buses to issue tickets to motorists who block bus lanes and bike paths. Proponents argue that broadening the program is essential to improving transit efficiency and road safety.
