Letter: Create new destinations to help tourism thrive

Regarding the editorial, “Manage tourism for locals’ benefit,” Hawaii should follow the lead of Costco, a national chain doing extremely well here, or L&L Drive-In, a local company that has gone national (“Star-Advertiser, Our View, Sept. 13). Their approach to destination management is simple: open new locations to improve the customer experience. Our state often does the opposite. We call it management, but too often management means limiting access.
