Mamdani admin ordered staff not to use Signal — but they ignored ban to collude with 200-person influencer army
Mayor Zohran Mamdani's administration prohibited communications staff from using encrypted messaging apps Signal and WhatsApp for work in January. Despite the ban, staff allegedly used the platforms to coordinate with a group of 200 influencers. The restriction was detailed in a memo from chief counsel Ramzi Kassem.
