Michigan bill would shift election duties if the secretary of state also runs for office
A new Michigan bill proposes shifting chief election officer duties to the deputy secretary of state if the secretary of state runs for a different office. The change would apply specifically to candidates seeking positions other than reelection.
The deputy secretary of state would become the chief election officer in cases where the secretary of state is running for “any office other than reelection.”
