Speaker Johnson recesses the House early as Rep. Thomas Massie pushes Hegseth impeachment

Speaker Johnson recessed the House early despite opposition from Representative Thomas Massie, who is seeking to impeach Pete Hegseth. Massie criticized the early recess, arguing that the House should stay in session to debate current national issues.
“Why would we be canceling days when the country is burning?” Massie said in an hourlong floor speech. “We should stay here for every day that’s on the calendar and we should debate.”
